THE DAY AFTER

In a word - Like an ironing board!!  Stiff, sore, blisters, but all that fades into insignificance when I look at my medal!!  Yay, go on, do it, apply now and do something amazing!!

MARATHON DAY

I DID IT !!  I DID IT !! I DID IT!!  WHAT AN AMAXING EXPERIENCE, THE ATMOSPHERE, THE SUPPORT, EVERYTHING!

5 hours 7 minutes, tears at 18 miles, aches and pains at 21 miles, buzzing and emotional entering Birdcage walk.  A truly awesome and a once in a lifetime experience!  Thank you to those AWA members who came to support me and called me on the day to give me a boost, thank you also to all of you who have sponsored me and given me support along the way.

The money raised will be put to good use and details will follow once all the sponsorship is collected in.

I can put my feet up now and look forward to my next challenge for the AWA!

The Day Before

Collected my race number and goodies from the Excel arena, what a fabulous atmosphere!  So this is it, tomorrow is the big day, butterflies, nerves a plenty!!  But I'm doing it thats for sure, this is what all the training has come down to and I'm ready .............. wish me luck xx

4 days to go!

Emotional, nervous, excited, overwhelmed with everyones support and encouragement.  I am mentally ready, physically prepared but could be a little better, never the less, I am proud to be representing the Army Widows Association.  Did my last long run yesterday of 10miles, keeping hydrated and out of heels now to keep my feet and legs injury free!

Last few days to gather sponsorship beforehand.  If you're reading this, please visit www.justgiving.com/janinefountain and donate what you can.  Thank you so so much!

1 week to go!

OMG, who'd have thought that 3 months ago I'd be in a position where I was excited about this race!!  I coulnd't run 3 miles without walking a couple of times.  No I am running 10 miles without thinking about it and excited about Marathon day . . . . . . . . . bring it on!!!

2 weeks to go!

Buzzing now!!   Last minute preparations underway, vest, blister free socks, toying with fancy dress!!  Most importantly keeping well, nourished and just ticking over running wise now.  Doing my last long run on Friday, about 10/12 miles.

Sponsorship needed though, so dig deep, I can't do this without your support, so please donate.  www.justgiving.com/janinefountain

 4 weeks to go!

Got my running number through today and final details for the big day aaaaaargh!  Gave me a tummy ache!

Doing a half marathon on Sunday to test my preparation, but its all about focussing now, I still need to dig deep and find the time to do more, timing is a problem, but 2 weeks off work and a mini bootcamp means i can have a final push!!

Fundraising started now, excited but hard work ahead.

PLEASE DONATE AT www.justgiving/janinefountain

5 weeks to go!

Its amazing how different I feel now compaired to 6 weeks ago, fitter, brighter, motivated......not as light as I would have liked though!!  Longest run so far 11 miles.  Behind on the training programme but I'm not letting it get me down.  focus focus focus!!

Week ending 11th March

6 WEEKS TO GO !!! It has been much more productive.  I definately feel fitter, I'm running much better and feeling much more confident.

I've ran a total of 30 miles this week, doing short fast runs instead of a long run and been focussing on my recovery more than distance! Gosh I sound like I know what I'm talking about, but I'm following the 'Womens Running' 12 week training plan now which is designed for busy working women with little time to spare and it seems to be working as the training programme is achievable.  This next week I really need to up my game further, can't wait for a well earned pedicure and a massage!!

Running a half marathon next weekend so that will be a big test, I'll keep you posted!  Thanks for reading everyone xx

Week ending 4th March

So far this month, I've lacked the motivation with the weather, snow and ice and cold dark days.  Sometimes I have thought, what the heck am I doing at my age, mad yes.  Then I turned a corner last weekend by doing a long run and having a 'Rocky' moment by finally running up a long hill that I could never manage before without stopping or walking sometimes several times!  This time I ran it all, so had a little cry of joy!!

Ran my first Marathon this week ............... 26miles over 5 days!!

Struggling to get the time in with a heavy work load, family life, just not enough hours in the day, but I'll get there.

Doing a long run in the morning before I go to an AWA coffee morning for cake!!  So i'll be sure to burn the calories off first.
